Wireless Energy Transfer (induction)

Description

Using two RLC circuits, light a bulb that is not connected to a power source. Classes Used: Phys 108, Phys 153

Purpose

Setup

1. Plug the transmitter in to an outlet and let it warm up. 2. Place the receiver a distance from the transmitter. 3. Turn the knobs to adjust the frequency of the signal.

Notes

1. Please do not place the receiver closer than 7 inches from the transmitter as this may burn out the bulb. 2. It may take some time to properly adjust the knobs so that they signal can be properly received. 3. Avoid touching the capacitor as it has the potential to burn. Currently broken: will shock you if you use it.
