Magnet, aluminum pendula

Demonstrate that without the magnet, both “solid” and the “cut” pendula swing freely in much the same way. When swung between the poles of the magnet, however, the “solid” pendulum suffers a very strong damping force but this is not evident with the “cut” pendulum.
