Current Balance
Description
Attraction and repulsion of current carrying solenoids. Classes Used: Phys 102, 108
Purpose
Apparatus
- Current balance - 12 V DC power supply
Setup
1. The power supply provides current to the two coils, this current being adjustable in value using the series control rheostat. 2. The connections can be made so that the coils either attract or repel and a compensating movement of the sliding arm can be made to restore balance of the pivoted arm.
