Air Compression Shock Absorber
Description
This is a small device made of four syringes and a plate on top.
Purpose
Can be used to illustrate how the force required to compress a gas varies with pressure. Shows how air can be used as a shock absorber, similar to a pneumatic table.
If not all of the syringes are pressed down at once, shows the action of pneumatic pistons.
Apparatus
- Air Compression Shock Absorber
- Delrin block
Setup
The block (pictured) is set on top of the syringes. Pressing down on the syringes gets harder as the block goes further down.
Notes
The plate will only sit on the syringes with one orientation, otherwise the holes don't line up.
