• To demonstrate a collision which is almost perfectly elastic.

• To show that the vertical motion of falling bodies is independent of their initial horizontal motion.

2 steel balls (near identical), ramp

Release the sphere down the ramp to strike the stationary sphere located on the curved arm over the table's edge. The elastic collision stops the moving sphere which drops vertically. The two spheres should strike the floor simultaneously.
