Demonstrates the large forces that can be produced in a hydraulic press.     Classes Used: PHYS 101

===== Apparatus =====


- hydraulic press 
- wood slats (~1"x 12" X 3/4") 



===== Setup =====


1. Close the horizontal screw and place the object to be pressed between the jaws of the machine and pump the handle of the press until the wood is split. 
2. The pressure can then be released by opening (but not removing) the horizontal screw. 



===== Notes =====

DO NOT OVERWORK THE PRESS! DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP
